Before coming to PNG I corresponded with a couple of ladies who already lived here about what to bring. One thing I specifically asked was what kind of clothes to bring and what I could get in the country.  They told me that I would be able to buy clothes here at second hand stores.  I was an avid Goodwill shopper in the US, but I have to admit I wondered what they could possibly sell at second hand stores here!  Well, it turns out they get clothes from Australia and that is what they sell! A while back the ladies from our base all went out together for a second hand shopping day where we hit up 3 or 4 of the stores. The stores were a little dark and didn’t smell good, and some of the clothes were dirty, but it was SO much fun and they had really great clothes! This was my favorite find:

I paid 3 kina for these 7 for all mankind jeans…that’s a little over $1.

  1. It’s like the Dollar Store meets TJMaxx (meets someone’s dirty laundry). $1! That’s awesome!
So glad you had some fun time shopping and getting deals!
