In preparation for building our house when we return to PNG, we have been shopping for some supplies here in the US. We’ve picked out a stove, kitchen and bathroom sinks, faucets and toilets. We plan to ship all these things from here because of the selection, quality and price available in America compared to what PNG has to offer. Along with those items, we will need the corresponding fittings and connectors from here since PNG is part of the metric world. So yesterday I went to Home Depot with my spiritual and construction advisor, Harry Stevenson, to get the bounty pictured above. While this is a small step, it puts us one step closer to moving into a tribe. And, Harry, we appreciate your time and expertise!

  1. Another question. Regarding construction, how will this expense be handled? Will you somehow be able to do the building within your normal PNG operating budget, or will you have to raise one-time funding when that time comes? I think all your supporters will want to hear how this will work, and please excuse me if you’ve already shared this & I missed it.

We will have to raise one-time funding–this is something we are working on while we are home. We will keep you posted.

A word of advice. Always be careful not to make your house the jewel of the neighborhood. When the time comes to sell, you’ll never get your money back out of it. Oh and location, location, location.

What do you think?
