Unfortunately, we won’t be flying on this ride any time soon. It hasn’t been repaired within the window of time that would have allowed us to fly into Menya and so we will have to come up with a new plan–that’s life in PNG.

As many of you know, this is not our first canceled trip, or our second, or third, or fourth…in fact I think we are getting close to double digits going all the way back to last year when we first were trying to get into Safeyoka for a survey. And so it is hard not to feel disappointed. But we are reminded of Prov. 16:9, “The mind of man plans his way, but the LORD directs his steps.” We have made lots of plans that have not turned out according to our design, but we still aren’t sure which way the Lord is directing our steps. I guess if we keep planning, God will keep directing.

Please pray for us that we will not be discouraged or impatient. We really want to move into a tribe and begin learning the language of a people who have never heard the gospel in their own tongue. It seems like there have been and continue to be many hurdles in our way. We appreciate all of you who are praying with us and encouraging us with your comments and messages.

We’ll be praying for you guys. I know that you are frustrated and anxious to begin what you have been planning for a long time, but obviously you are supposed to be right where you are for the moment. Thinking of you and hoping things begin to move soon.

      Thanks Kristen.

Hey Joseph. Thanks for the update. I check your blog everyday, but realized that commenting would probably be a better way to let you guys know I’m thinking about you and praying for y’all. I know being on hold must be frustrating, but I also know that you’ve made good use of your time in previous waiting periods – including the bible study you did at the Center Operations Clubhouse. No doubt there is a reason and purpose. And the only thing worse than not riding on an unrepaired helicopter would be riding on an unrepaired helicopter.

Matt, when I first read this comment I was assuming it was from Ashely since Joey Espinosa is the only male who comments on our site with any regularity. I was impressed with her wit in a new interpretation of COC and the helicopter remark. So you can pass the compliment on to her.
But thanks for the thoughts and prayers.

      • Ummm… Thanks?

God must be preparing the way for you in PNG in a special way – we are praying for your hearts to be all in wherever you are, and to be able to practice patience in the waiting. We believe God has new, exciting, amazing things in store for the hearts of the people in PNG.

Also, is anyone else wondering how Matt Gaymon posted from the future??

Thanks Molly. That’s a silly question, though. Matt Gaymon is “Future Man,” lest you forget.

What do you think?
