I went to find Wally, one of my language tutors, but he wasn’t home. Instead I found his four older children sitting by the fire cooking some greens. Cute, right? At least their youngest sibling was away with mom.
What do our neighbors think about the way we treat our children? We don’t leave them home alone. We don’t let them cook over an open fire. We don’t let them wander around the village alone. We don’t let them carry machetes. For us, underwear is a minimum requirement for going outside. We sure are strict.
