Today as Wes and I walked back from the market we passed this group of ladies sitting outside some houses. They called out to us–really to Wes because they know him much better–and explained that the child of the lady in orange had died last night. The body was inside one of the houses. While Wes went inside, I asked the ladies if the child had been sick. No, they said nonchalantly, she had been killed by sorcery. Later, from another woman, I heard that the child’s grandmother had performed the sorcery because the mother wouldn’t give money she requested.

This is another reminder that death reigns here in Menya. Physical death is regular. Walking in spiritual death without the truth of the gospel is normal. Pray for us as we work toward bringing the gospel and eternal life.
