The two pictures above are some of the guys getting their first look at our literacy lesson books.

On Tuesday evening we had a third meeting with our village leaders about the location of our upcoming literacy class. So far, we’ve explored two options which both ended with objections from different segments of the community. Since we don’t want to see our literacy program (or our Bible teaching which comes after) interrupted by personal disputes, we have decided to build a “teaching house” on our own land at our own expense. (The land doesn’t belong to us, but we have documented permission to use it as we see fit.)

To that end, we are working with a whole bunch of local guys to move a whole bunch of dirt. We pay with food.

Below, Wes is showing the guys where we intend to level a spot for the teaching house.

What do you think?
