This afternoon (and evening) we had a graduation celebration for our first literacy class. The main event was a “mumu” with local produce and the meat we brought back from Goroka. The afternoon started with cooking the rocks.

Then covering the hot rocks and food.

While the food cooked, we got to hear all the students read. (Some of the students were dressed in traditional get-up for the occasion.)

 

 

Then Wes handed out certificates to all the graduates.

Finally, we uncovered the mumu for feasting.
