Teaching Update #11

Sunday Elizabeth and I met with Rita and Mati to catch them up on a couple of days worth of missed lessons–they had traveled to another village for Mati’s mother’s funeral. We talked about Jesus’ birth and temptation. We left them with John’s quote “Behold, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!” and this question: What is Jesus going to do to take away our sin?

This (Monday) afternoon, Mati came and said “I want to tell you something and see if I’m right.” This was her story:

Sunday, after we talked, I kept thinking and thinking about that question. After I fed the kids supper and put them to bed, I kept thinking late into the night. Then I prayed and asked God to give me some good thoughts so that I could know how to answer that question. In the morning, I kept on thinking and thinking about it. Now I think that when Jesus died on the cross, he paid our debt with his life.

I cannot tell you how encouraging this is! Thank you for sharing how the Holy Spirit is drawing them and teaching them. God is moving! Thank you for continuing to serve and sacrifice to be used by Him! How awesome it must be to be a part of this… It’s really cool from all the way over here!

  2. So profound – and I love that you are not just spoon feeding them – but letting them wrestle with what they’ve been taught. Seems like the spirit is working over time.

Love your approach of teaching. Mati has “weaved the tapestry together” She has seen the threads of prophecy and the end of the story without making it complex. Praise God for her heart and mind and for HIS mighty work. Good job, teacher! You are an awesome vessel. I love her new faith! Celebrating her on the other side of the world. Thank you, Joseph!
