We met with our group of new believers this morning to talk about what’s next. The picture above is of Wati, Hoku and Gapi reading through the Bible verses (in Menyan) before we began. We started by reiterating the fact that we are saved by God’s grace, through faith, not our own work. We then explained that when we believe, God makes us alive, gives us his spirit and adopts us as his children. Because of that, we want to meet together as God’s holy people to learn from God’s word, worship and pray together. There was a lot of excitement about this.
Aside from these new believers we have* to care for (and translate the Bible for,) we have a number of other opportunities.
- A group came from Aron and Dorine’s village saying they want to hear what we taught. It seems Aron and Dorine are already spreading the news.
- The local (government run) high school wants us to teach a class about the Bible.
- There are lots of people in our own village who didn’t hear the whole story and we still want to reach them.
- There is “religious” group of people who seems to have rejected us, but we really want a chance to help them understand the truth.
So there is lots of work to do. Please pray for us as we try to make the most of these opportunities and pray that we would have wisdom as we prioritize things.
*I mean “have” in the possession sense, not the obligation sense
